High Quality:

Acquired Tastes has provided safe, fun, exciting whitewater adventures on the Arkansas River under the same ownership since 1986. All of our boats are state-of-the-art self-bailing rafts with foot cones glued to the floor for added safety and security. We are a licensed outfitter with one of the best safety records on the river and our guides are certified by the State of Colorado.

Low Prices:

Our prices for whitewater rafting are some of the lowest in Colorado. We are the “Best Rafting Value in Colorado” because we provide high quality rafting trips at everyday low prices. We give you more rapids for your money!

Group Discounts:

We give your group an additional 10% off our everyday low prices for a group of 12 to 23 people or an additional 15% off for a group of 24 or more people.

Free Trip for Group Organizer:

If you organize a rafting trip of 18 or more people, one person will raft for free. If you organize a rafting trip of 36 or more people, two people will raft for free.

Early Booking Special:

If you pay for your Arkansas River rafting trip in full by March 31st, we will deduct 10% off our everyday low prices. If you have a rafting group of 12 to 23 people, you will receive the 10% group discount plus the 10% early booking discount off of your group rate. If you have a rafting group of 24 or more people, you will receive the 15% group discount plus the 10% early booking discount off of your group rate.

Full-Time and Weekend Guides, Personal Guide Training

Guide Training Class: May 19th – 27th, 2012

Guide Training Cost: $400.00

Guide Training Class Size: Limited to Eight Full-Time Guide Trainees, Four Weekend Guide Trainees, and Two Personal Guide Trainees

Pay for First-Year Guides: $40.00 for half-day trips, $60.00 for one-day trips.

Tips: Tips usually range from $10.00 to $30.00 for each guide on a trip. On some trips a guide may not get tipped at all but occasionally a guide gets tipped $100.00 or more. Guides who are professional, skilled, and personable get bigger tips.

The $400.00 training fee includes nine days of training, lunch on the river during training, and the use of wetsuits, booties, and splash gear during training. This class is primarily for people who want to work for us as full-time guides or as weekend guides. However, we will accept a maximum of two people into the class who want to learn to guide so they can do private trips with friends but who do not want to work for us. Having a few private boaters in the class allows us to average costs over a larger number of people without creating additional competition for jobs among the trainees who do want to work for us.
